Doc talks about arming his clients with knowledge.
I tell my folks all the time, you’re paying me for knowledge, you’re paying me to understand your problems, to troubleshoot you, you’re paying me for medicine to help you not be hungry because I can take care of the pain for hunger, and you’re also paying me never to see you again the rest of your life. That’s our goal. That’s what we want to accomplish. I want to make you smarter than any other doctor you will ever run across in your life. I want to make you smarter than any trainer, anybody you will ever have a conversation with knowledge. Knowledge is what you need. And with that knowledge, you can gain an understanding and weigh out your variables of what you’re actually doing to yourself. Do you actually want to eat a basket of chips and run 30 miles? If the answer is no, don’t do it. But you sit there and you look at the wall and you look at your parents and they’re overweight, they’re having diabetes, heart disease, joint disease, knee issues, all these horrible problems. Don’t do that. Don’t go down their road. They did not have the knowledge, the information or the ambition not to do this. I think we’re all still young enough watching these videos. We’re going to be to stop it and change our ways. I am sorry. There are things that you’re going to have to give up for the rest of your life. There’s a price to pay for everything we put in our mouth. And sometimes that price is just way too much. So but it is it is incredibly hard to get people motivated and get on the train to keep this going for the rest of their lives. I would say my success rate is probably actually better than most. I would say probably 30 to 40 percent of my folks do really well. Another 60 percent have a lot of relapses. But that’s that’s that’s just normal population. People do that. I mean, they lose a bunch of weight and they want to go back to their old ways. They love their cheesecake. They love their chips. They love their soda pop. They’re sweet tea and they’re going to fall back into those cycles. It’s OK. You’re only human. I mean, we’re just a nation of mess ups. So I’m OK with that.
