21 Aug Real Talk | Economics
Doc breaks down the economics of food cost and losing weight.
And you know, when you talk about medicines that reduce appetite, let’s look at something really kind of neat about the economics of that. All right, so medicines like Phentermine, Phentermethazine, there’s a few other ones out there, but they tend to reduce your appetite. All right, well, if they allow me to skip breakfast and lunch, and then we’ll just say, I’m a big eater, and I spend $10 for breakfast, $10 for lunch. Okay, well, that’s $20 a day times 30 days, that’s $600. Well, my visit is about a sixth of that, so why don’t I just raise my rates from $100 to $600, and I’ll make an extra $500, and you will just break even. So you see where it comes to is, you cannot afford not to see me from an economic standpoint, but I don’t even care about that. I care about lowering your blood pressure, getting you off your diabetes medicines, making your knees feel better, being healthier all the way around. That’s the goal, and whether or not you ever come back and see me again, I’d be glad if you did, and I can see you walking down the street 20 years from now, not even recognize you because you never gained your weight back. That’s my goal. That’s what I want. That’s the plan.
